It succeeded Indiana Hi-Rail, who had entered bankruptcy. They run from Woodburn, Indiana to Liberty Center, Ohio, serving several customers, and interchanging with NS at Woodburn and CSX at Defiance, Ohio. Between Liberty Center and Colton, Ohio, the line has been removed. Here a battered GP35 still in tattered Conrail paint, leaves the small yard in Defiance with a cut of a cars. After making a safety stop at the grade crossing, he pushes the two covered hoppers and tank car along the interchange track with the CSX ex-B&O Willard Sub. He then returns light to the yard. Note the new tri-light signal bridge on the B&O. In recent years, the MAW has become notorious for the horrid condition of its trackage.
